Decorate a Pot of Gold

To make and decorate your own pot of gold on this festive Irish holiday of St Patricks, you will need the following: 1 large bowl or 1 large cauldron or pan (does not need to be black), some golden colored construction paper, black construction paper, scissors, glue or adhesive tape.

1) Cut out some black construction paper and glue it (with temporary glue or adhesive tape) around the perimeter of your bowl or pan, to cover its sides. This should leave you with a black "pot". You may need to cut excess paper from the bottom to fit the size of your bowl.

2) Cut a 1-inch (or smaller depending on the size of your pot) wide strip of golden construction paper. Paste the paper around 1 or 2 inches from the top of your bowl to create a golden band around the rim of your pot of gold.

3) Create a little "belt" shape with excess black construction paper, to create the belt around the pot of gold.

4) Crumble up lightly one of the golden construction paper sheets (yellow works too!) and place it in the bottom of your bowl. If the bowl is too big, you may need to use more than one sheet. Keep the "crumpling" to a minimum, to take up as much space as possible.

5) Cut out round "coins" from excess golden construction paper and glue or adhesive paper them to your crumbled golden paper. This should leave you with a beautiful pot of gold, filled with sparkling golden coins!

Make a Clover Leaf Stamp

St Patricks Day CraftsTo make your own clover leaf stamp you will need the following: 1 potato, 1 dark pen or marker, 1 pair of scissors, some green paint or green dye. The instructions for this one are quite simple, but the results are quite fun and exciting. To make your own St Patricks Day clover leaf stamp, use a kitchen knife to slice your potato in half. Then draw the outline for your clover leaf or shamrock shape. Use the knife to out the excess potato from the outline. Then simply dunk the potato into green paint or green dye and start stamping your St Patricks Day cards and decorations!
